The Towpath Challenge

The Wilts & Berks Canal Partnership has set a challenge to reopen the canal towpath as a long distance footpath and cycleway by 2015. The Partners are particularly keen to point out that much of the canal is still in private ownership and unless you are sure about access please respect the landowners rights and do not try to follow the route of the canal unless you are sure. Maps on these pages and local way markers are likely to be the best guides, as well as walk leaflets produced by the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust.
