As part of a new housing development in southern Swindon the Wilts & Berks Canal is being restored and the first part of a new route to take the waterway eastwards has now been constructed in East Wichel.

The plan for the completed development is shown below and the project is expected to be completed by 2020. There is more information on the Wichelstowe web site
